WAYN: Glen Johnson

Glen Johnson born August 23rd 1984 in Dartford, London, England was the very first signing of the new era and I suppose he will always have a place in the history of the club for that.  He came from West Ham for 6 million on July 15, 2003 after they were relegated from the Premiership in May of that year.  Johnson plays at right back and in his first two seasons he enjoyed plenty of first team action with 63 appearances for the club.  The 2005/2006 season started to mark his downfall at the club with him only featuring in 9 games.  He also made the press that season for arriving at the airport without his passport as the team were set to fly to Barcelona for a Champions League match.  He then went to Portsmouth on a season long loan in 2006/2007 with them eventually purchasing him for 4 million pounds on August 31, 2007 and he is still with them.  His final Chelsea stats were 72 appearances and 3 goals.
